Facilities Division
The Facilities Division of Public Works
maintains approximately 79,000 square feet of public buildings and provides on-call
services for all buildings owned by ER&R and Solid Waste. This division is also
responsible for implementing a number of capital improvement projects each year.
Custodial staff and contract custodians provide
cleaning services for over 62,000 square feet of public offices located on Lopez,
Orcas and San Juan Islands including the SJC Court House, Court House Annex, Sheriff's
Offices, Legislative Building and Elections Office, Public Works Administrative
Building, San Juan Island ER&R and Road Offices, Compass Health Building, theWSU
Extension Office and the Cormorant Building. Custodians are on-call 24 hours a day
should their services be needed to clean the Sheriff's holding cells.
Facilities Maintenance Staff is responsible
for repairs and improvements to the County physical plant, including electrical
systems and heating and air conditioning systems, and respond to emergency building
problems 24 hours a day.
The role of this division is two-fold: to provide a safe, functional environment
for County employees to work and the Public to visit; and to preserve the physical
plant and other Public assets under its charge.
