Any business can request a no-cost on-site evaluation. The County will also be sending out letters to reach as many local businesses as possible.

Who can benefit?
Everyone benefits from correct disposal of hazardous materials. Determining whether your business generates any hazardous or dangerous waste isn't as obvious as it might seem.

Here are some common waste products that need special handling:

• Fluorescent bulbs (tubes and compact bulbs) are considered a hazardous waste by Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) due to the mercury that is contained inside the bulbs.
• Pharmaceutical wastes, including over-the-counter drugs like aspirin, are also designated as hazardous/dangerous waste by Ecology.
• Even basic soaps, if not properly disposed of, would be considered pollution by Ecology!

• High risk pollution generating activities
• Outdoor maintenance practices
• Outdoor storage of products and waste
• Spill prevention
• Protecting our drinking water supply
