NEW Campsite Reservation system for 2010!

Our *NEW* Camper Activity Management Program (C.A.M.P.) online reservation system is scheduled to open at 9:00am Pacific Time on MARCH 15, 2010. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance, starting at that time. Watch this page for more information. Beginning May 1, 2010 through September 30, 2010, a permit will be required for all vessels launching from San Juan County Park. Permits will be available from the San Juan Park office 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. daily beginning April 26th, 2010. Vessel operators will be required to attend a whale watch 'best practices' education program prior to receiving a permit. Detailed information about this new program is coming soon to this website.

Welcome to the San Juan Islands!
Map of the San Juan Islands We are located in a beautiful maritime archipelago of 743 islands (428 at high tide!) in the northwest corner of Washington State (USA). Of these, 60 islands are inhabited and four (Lopez, Shaw, Orcas, and San Juan) are served by Washington State Ferries, sailing from Anacortes, Washington. All of the ferry-served islands have shoreline County parks and/or campgrounds maintained by the San Juan County Parks and Recreation Department.

Come enjoy our islands and visit any of our seventeen parks located on San Juan, Lopez, Orcas and Shaw Island. Camp in one of our 3 overnight park accommodations on San Juan, Lopez or Shaw Island.

Save time, gas, & money - leave your car at the Anacortes ferry terminal and cycle or walk on the ferry. Taxi & transit companies can deliver you to your desired location (except on Shaw Island). If you are interested in using any San Juan County park for a part of a commercial enterprise, as a base for a group activity, or for a special event such as a wedding, birthday party or reception, please contact the Park Administration office at 360-378-8420. The islands are quieter during the off-season (October thru April) and the weather can be delightful. Community events and activities are scheduled year 'round. Come enjoy the San Juans like the locals do! Enjoy more relaxed camping and reduced fees during winter, too.
