Welcome to the San Juan Islands!
Map of the San Juan Islands We are located in a beautiful maritime archipelago of 743 islands (428 at high tide!) in the northwest corner of Washington State (USA). Of these, 60 islands are inhabited and four (Lopez, Shaw, Orcas, and San Juan) are served by Washington State Ferries, sailing from Anacortes, Washington. All of the ferry-served islands have shoreline County parks and/or campgrounds maintained by the San Juan County Parks and Recreation Department.

Come enjoy our islands and visit any of our seventeen parks located on San Juan, Lopez, Orcas and Shaw Island. Camp in one of our 3 overnight park accommodations on San Juan, Lopez or Shaw Island.

San Juan County Parks does not currently charge for entry to any of our parks and we are not participants in the State’s Discover Pass program (this pass is not required for access to County parks; other fees may pertain to specific uses). For information about this pass, required for State-managed recreation lands, please visit http://www.discoverpass.wa.gov

ferry travel Planning to travel by Washington State ferry? Their ‘Save A Spot‘ vehicle reservations can help make your next ferry trip a smooth sailing. It's easy to get started. Reservation holders are prioritized. Limited spaces per sailing are available for drive up customers. If you don’t have a reservation, at busy times you may wait multiple sailings for a space. Call Center Hours: 7:00am until 6:45pm, 7 days a week (Statewide: call 1-888-808-7977; Out of State: call 206-464-6400).

Save time, gas, & money - leave your car at the Anacortes ferry terminal and cycle or walk on the ferry. Taxi & transit companies can deliver you to your desired location (except on Shaw Island). Inquire with the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau at 888-468-3701 or visit www.visitsanjuans.com.

If you are interested in using any San Juan County park for a part of a commercial enterprise, as a base for a group activity, or for a special event such as a wedding, birthday party or reception, please contact the Park Administration office at 360-378-8420. You can read further by going to Camping and scrolling down to the appropriate section.

The islands are quieter during the off-season (October thru April) and the weather can be delightful. Community events and activities are scheduled year 'round. Come enjoy the San Juans like the locals do! Enjoy more relaxed camping and reduced fees during winter, too.
